Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor to visit a chiropractor?

Chiropractors are considered primary healthcare providers, which means you can seek their services directly without a referral from another healthcare professional. To make an appointment you can simply book online here.

What happens during an initial chiropractic appointment?

During an initial chiropractic appointment, you can expect the chiropractor to ask you about your medical history, any current symptoms youโ€™re experiencing, and any previous treatments you may have had. They will also perform a physical exam, which may include assessing your posture, range of motion, and muscle strength.

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation, is a technique used by chiropractors to improve the alignment and mobility of the spine and other joints in the body. During a chiropractic adjustment, the chiropractor will apply controlled force to specific areas of the spine or other joints using their hands or specialized instruments.

Do I have to keep seeing a chiropractor?

Whether or not you need to keep seeing a chiropractor depends on your individual situation and goals. Some patients seek chiropractic care for a specific condition or injury and find that a short course of treatment is sufficient to achieve their desired outcome. Others may choose to continue with ongoing chiropractic care to maintain their spinal health and prevent future injuries.

Is it safe to โ€œcrackโ€ your own spine?

It is generally not recommended to โ€œcrackโ€ your own spine or perform self-manipulation techniques, as it can be unsafe and potentially harmful.

Chiropractic adjustments should only be performed by a licensed and trained chiropractor who has the knowledge and expertise to perform the techniques safely and effectively. Trying to manipulate your own spine can lead to further injury, exacerbate existing conditions, or cause new problems.

How do I find a good chiropractor?

By choosing a chiropractor with expertise in your specific area of need, you may be more likely to receive effective and targeted treatment that addresses your unique concerns. Itโ€™s always a good idea to ask a chiropractor about their experience and areas of specialization before starting treatment to ensure that they are the right fit for you.
